Laid out test plots to determine
charge rate, depth, and width.
Each of our different test plots
resulted in unique and exciting results.
Drilling with two-man auger
Notice the bark on all the trees
around the perimeter of the blast site, no peeling!
First explosion of test plot.
Two-man auger for deeper holes.
Auger used to drill test holes.
After reviewing the results from
the first blast and determining the specifics, we re-drilled to remove
the craters.

On February 21, 2007, Envirotech Consultants, Inc. and Erie County
Metro Parks began re-establishing Vernal Pools at Edison Woods
Preserve with private mitigation funds. Vernal pools are
specific wetland ecosystems that have a wet-dry cycle which prevents
fish populations from being established. These complex
ecosystems are breeding sites for key amphibians like Rana
sylvatica, Wood Frog, or Ambystoma machulatum, the
Spotted Salamander. Ohio has lost over 90% of its original
wetlands. Due to the past agricultural practices at Edison
Woods Preserve, most of the micro-topography has been eliminated due
to plowing and disking. We are re-establishing these Vernal
Pools where they once were. It is imperative to preserve and
establish these precious ecosystems.
