Help Conserve the Beautiful and Rare
Ohio Prairie Landscape

·         Grow Your Own Native Prairie

·         Rare Wildflowers and Grasses of Unique Beauty

·         Complete Natural Plant Ecosystems

Native prairie is a rare treasure in today's landscapes. Prairie once covered nearly one-third of the continent but has been reduced to small, scattered remnants in the Midwest. These beautiful ecosystems provide food and shelter for many wild species, including butterflies and songbirds. Prairie plants also enrich soil, increase water absorption, and reduce run-off and flooding. Prairie plants have deep roots that allow them to survive even severe droughts. They require little or no fertilizer, sprays, or watering. Ohio prairie plants are ideal for authentic local xeroscaping, (the use of drought-resistant plants that can thrive in created landscapes without added water.)

As well as being useful, ecologically sound and easy to maintain, these prairie ecosystems are beautiful. A wide range of colors and textures abound throughout the year, attracting native wildlife such as butterflies and hummingbirds. Watch as your prairie bursts into life with elegant spring flowers, transforms into a brilliant and showy multicolored landscape with the coming of summer, and ends the year with the grasses providing a dazzling display of rich, vibrant fall colors. Some of these majestic grasses and flowers can reach heights of 6-7 feet. Birds, butterflies, and hummingbirds will be enticed to your yard all season long to feed on the nectar, seeds, and insects attracted to your native community. As an added bonus, prairie plants are long-lived, perennial flowers and you will not have to worry about replanting.

Envirotech features many representative native Ohio species not commonly or locally available.  We have a strong commitment to make our nursery-grown native prairie plants available to individuals and agencies concerned with innovative new uses of native grasses and wildflowers. For authentic conservation and native-plants gardening, it's not just trees anymore. Beautiful prairie plants deserve expanded use in conservation landscapes.
