HABITAT ASSESSMENT
Ecological assessment activities include field investigations for
evaluation of habitat quality, rating and categorizing streams and
wetlands using the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency's ("OEPA")
methodology, and determinations of potential impacts to habitat. Site
evaluations are routinely conducted for project planning purposes.
Comprehensive reports are prepared for client and regulatory agency use.
Wetland monitoring includes the evaluation of water quality, wildlife
utilization of habitat, plant identification and dispersal, analysis of
hydrologic conditions, and overall habitat composition and development.
Stream monitoring includes water quality analysis, habitat evaluation
using OEPA methodology, and biological assessment.
HABITAT RESTORATION AND MONITORING
Envirotech Consultants, Inc. has considerable experience in
designing and planning for the restoration and enhancement of diverse
ecosystems for wetland mitigation, stream restoration and stormwater
filtration. Our expertise ranges from large-scale prairie restorations
to smaller wetland areas. We have completed a variety of habitat
restoration from fens and freshwater marshes to barrens and tallgrass
prairies. We have experience with the design, implementation, planting
and maintenance of a variety of ecosystems. As a supplier of native
plant material, the Envirotech Nursery has supplied native prairie and
wetland plants for large-scale restoration projects in Ohio, Indiana and
Michigan.
STREAM RESTORATION
Stream restoration involves a number of practices both in the stream
channel and within the riparian and floodplain. Envirotech utilizes all
possible techniques to implement the most effective restoration methods
and has used several techniques, such as the re-creation of riffles and
the use of v-weirs to receive dramatic results. Their knowledge of plant
material allows them to recreate native riparian and floodplain
communities to serve as diverse and ecologically important buffers.
Envirotech also has extensive experience in the restoration of wetlands,
which can be an integral component of a stream restoration plan.
ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION AND NATURAL RESOURCE PLANNING
Envirotech is committed to the enhancement of environmental and
ecological education and has developed large and small-scale "biolab"
projects for use in schools and park systems. We are also interested in
assisting clients in the development of environmental educational
curriculum to fully utilize the educational potential of their site.
Envirotech offers environmental and natural resource planning services
to assist clients in managing a variety of environmental and resource
issues, conducting natural resource inventories, and using the natural
features of a property in site planning.
WETLAND MITIGATION
BANKING
Mitigation banks are an economically and ecologically feasible
method of providing compensatory mitigation for impacts to non-isolated
and isolated wetlands under the Clean Water Act and Chapter 6111 of the
Ohio Revised Code. Envirotech maintains an excellent working knowledge
of banking regulations and guidances, along with professional
relationships with state and federal agencies involved in the review and
establishment of mitigation banks. Envirotech also manages one of the
largest multi-watershed mitigation banking systems in the country. More
information about our mitigation banks is located at the
