Installation of "V" Weir to
raise water height.
Note the high banks and loss of
soil due to erosion.
To increase toe protection, stone
is added to root wads. Eventually root wads will decay
producing a natural looking bank.
"V" Weirs installed to raise stream
and allow access to flood plain.
Bank side has become unstable and
there is evidence of undercutting.
Same area but from further away
during high water. Note the installation of rock to modify
flow
Use of root wads is effective to
reduce flow velocities and re-establish the natural role of large
woody debris in streams.
Undercutting of bank and high
sediment loss.
Every effort is made to minimize
the disturbance to the environment, stream, habitats, and existing
vegetation.
